Final task: Interaction

Hello my people, For this final task, I have chosen the Edpuzzle activity mentioned in the blog English Corner. I really appreciated how this tool was used to enhance interactive learning and comprehension skills, which is why I chose to build my final task around it.  I really enjoyed the way it allows teachers to create interactive video lessons, adding questions and pauses for reflection, which is a great way to engage students actively during the lesson.  The main objective of my final task is to improve students' listening comprehension and critical thinking skills using Edpuzzle.  Name of the project: interactive movie scene analysis  1. I chose a short scene from the popular TV series, “Friends”, that is appropriate for my students' level.  2. I created an Edpuzzle video where students had to watch the scene at home, incorporating what we have learnt regarding Flipped learning.  3. Then, in the classroom, they had to discuss and answer questions focu...

Improving oral skills

Hello my people, In this post, I will show you the steps we took in preparing a project for improving oral skills with my students. The project, titled "Improve Your Oral Skills," allowed students to explore different ways to enhance their speaking abilities, and I used a variety of interactive tools to support their learning. Here is a detailed breakdown of the stages, decisions, and reflections that guided the project. 1. The first step was to choose the topic of the project. I wanted to ensure the students were motivated and excited about improving their oral skills, so I gave them the freedom to choose from a variety of topics related to real-world communication. We discussed the importance of oral skills in different contexts such as interviews, presentations, and social interactions. Afterward, the students formed groups of 2-3, which helped them collaborate effectively. 2. Once the groups were formed, they selected the modality in which they would present their proje...

Creating a Story with StoryJumper

Imagen
Hello my people, Today, I am going to tell you about an amazing activity that I designed and did with my students of 3º CSE.  First of all, I organized the students into small groups of 3-4, ensuring that each group had a mix of abilities to encourage collaboration. I also paired students who hadn’t worked together before to foster new interactions and perspectives.  The sequence for the final activity began with brainstorming ideas for the story, where students could freely share their thoughts and pick a theme. Next, they planned the story's structure, including characters, setting, and plot, using a storyboard format. Then, they divided the writing tasks and started creating their individual sections. Once the writing was done, they moved on to illustrating their sections in StoryJumper, adding details to make the story visually engaging. Finally, they worked on spelling and created and share their digital book. The main objectives were to develop creativity, improve ...

Rosalia's interview with Jimmy Fallon

Hello my people, Today I want to tell you about my experience using Edpuzzle in the classroom to promote my students' listening skills. First of all, I planned my lesson to achieve 4 main objectives, which I am going to explain in detail below: 1. Use authentic materials : given the lack of time, I usually use materials specifically design for English learners. However, this time, I decided to use an authentic material, audiovisual because it helps my students, and an interview, mainly due to the fact that we have already practised this type of oral text in previous units.  2. Plan pre, during and post tasks: I wanted to achieve a main objective, make my students understand that you don't have to speak perfect in order to speak. They are usually shy or nervous when they have to speak in English, because they care too much about their accent or they don't want to make mistakes. By preparing this lesson, I really planned to teach them that the most important part of speakin...

Writing a biography with TimeToast

Hello my people, Today I have been using TimeToast with my classroom and it has been an amazing experience! The learning objective was to understand a text and mediate it into another format developing our digital competence. Afterwards, students will be using their timelines to write a biography.  TimeToast has proven to be an excellent tool, as it is intuitive, dynamic and cooperative. My students have really enjoyed working with it and, by doing the timeline, they have now a wonderful support to complete their writing task.  In order to set up the activity, I had to:      1. Create 5 short texts about creative people (football players, singers, dancers, etc.).           that my students could enjoy and understand.       2. Prebook the computers to use them in the classroom.       3. Divide students by groups depending on their interests and give each group the text     ...

Reflecting on reading habits

Hello my people! There are five pictures from a specific course that I will be analysing. the first picture shows a library with several people reading individually, the second shows a grandmother reading a book with her grandchild and the third photo illustrates a person reading in an ebook. Furthermore, the fourth image captures a classroom in which children are reading all the same book while the last one shows a man reading a book at a park.  In the first, the third and the fifth photograph, the books might be longer, possibly novels whereas the second and fourth image contain more instructional and educative books. These last books may have been chosen by someone else, rather than the reader itself. From my point of view, all readers seem comfortable, interested and motivated, because they are focused on what they are reading, paying attention, and doing this activity in a comfortable and relaxed environment. The only exception will be picture number four, which has been...
